Enzo Maresca’s side ended the ‘Blues’ tour of the United States in the 5th game. The results were wavering in the past. But today’s power looked serious. Reece James wore the armband, Enzo Fernandez was the commander. While the hope in the upper field was with Christopher Nkunku.

Madrid took the lead 1-0 in the 19th minute when a pass from midfield pierced through Chelsea’s centre-half, who pushed into the middle of the field. Brahim Diaz broke away and dribbled into the penalty area, flowing to the right for Lucas Vasquez to make a shot that deflected off a blocker, and Dani Ceballos tried to slide and roll it into the goal.

But the credit goes to Vasquez for scoring the goal.

The score flowed 2-0 in the 27th minute. A quick counterattack, Vinicius Junior got the ball in the middle of the field on the left, passed it long into the space for Diaz to run and follow into the penalty area before goalkeeper Philip Jorgensen came out to cut in time, tapped into the tight angle and kicked it into the empty goal without missing.

Six minutes before the end of the first half, the Blues scored a goal 1-2 when they broke through on the left and tapped it back to Enzo in front of the goal, who lifted it deep to the far post, where Noni Madueke cut in front of his marker and headed the ball close range past Thibaut Courtois into the net.

Come back to play the second half seriously for 20 minutes, then gradually let the substitutes play, the young stars stretched their legs, no more scores.

The match ended with ‘Los Blancos’ winning 2-1, ending the US tour. They will play in the UEFA Super Cup next week against Atalanta (August 14).

Chelsea returned to England with a lot of homework, waiting to end the warm-up match against Inter Milan (11 August).
